Canada is entering a defining moment for digital policy. Major decisions now underway will determine how Canada governs its digital environment: encompassing economic competitiveness, cultural sovereignty, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and technological leadership. To help inform and shape this work, The Canadian Internet Society (TCIS) has developed a series of white papers focused on the most consequential issues in Canada’s digital environment.
Each paper combines expert insight from focused roundtables with up-to-date policy developments under the Carney government. The series highlights key challenges, identifies gaps in existing frameworks, and offers practical recommendations to advance coherent, evidence-based decision-making across government, industry, and civil society.
Topics include artificial intelligence, broadcasting and the future of news, the role of the CBC, CRTC reform, privacy, telecommunications, cybersecurity, protection of minors, and competition. Every paper features an executive summary, key findings, and specific proposals aimed at real-world implementation.
